What is the Cash App Settlement about?

Block, Inc. (Cash App) agreed to create a $12.5 million fund to resolve claims that its “Invite Friends” referral program substantially assisted users in sending unsolicited commercial text messages to Washington residents. Estimated payments per approved claimant are $88–$147. To qualify, you must have received a Cash App referral text between November 14, 2019 and August 7, 2025, been a Washington resident at the time, and not have clearly and affirmatively consented to receive the message. Claims are due October 27, 2025. Eligibility, claim review, payment timing, and any payment amount are determined by the settlement administrator, court-approved terms, or applicable refund program. Payout does not administer the settlement, determine eligibility, or guarantee payment.
