What is a price adjustment?

A price adjustment means a retailer refunds you the difference when an item you already bought drops in price within a set window — no return required. Macy's calls this a 'price adjustment' and allows you to claim the price difference if a Macy's item goes on sale within 10 days of your purchase date (or, for online orders, within 10 days of your shipment date).

One key change: Macy's stopped matching competitors' prices in July 2022. If you see the same item cheaper at Nordstrom, Amazon, or any other retailer, Macy's will not honor that price. But for Macy's own sales, clearance events, and promotional markdowns — and there are many throughout the year — the 10-day window means a quick request can recover meaningful money without the hassle of a return.

  5. 5If approved, Macy's will refund the price difference to your original payment method.
