What is the Apple class action settlement about?

The case alleges that Apple advertised enhanced Siri and Apple Intelligence features that were not ready when customers bought eligible phones. Apple denied wrongdoing and agreed to create a $250 million fund after the buyers and Apple negotiated a settlement.

The complaint focused on Apple advertising for a more personal Siri that could understand on-screen context, remember personal details, and perform actions across apps. Buyers alleged those promised features influenced their purchases. Apple said it delivered more than 20 Apple Intelligence features and that people buy iPhones for many reasons.

The court granted preliminary approval in July 2026. Preliminary approval lets the notice and claim process move forward. It does not guarantee that the judge will grant final approval or that every person who submits a claim will receive money.

Which iPhones and purchase dates qualify?

The reported class covers U.S. residents who bought an eligible device in the United States from June 10, 2024, through March 29, 2025, for a purpose other than resale. Seven iPhone models appear in the current eligibility list.

iPhone 15 models

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

iPhone 16 models

  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16e

The iPhone model alone is not enough. The purchase must fall inside the date range and meet the U.S. residence and purchase rules. Keep a receipt, carrier invoice, Apple order record, or other record that connects you with the device and purchase date.

How much could each Apple claimant receive?

The settlement allows up to $95 per eligible device, with one payment per device. News reports estimate roughly $25 per device based on the expected claim rate, but the administrator cannot calculate the final amount until the claim period closes and it counts valid claims.

The words “up to” matter. The $250 million fund also covers court-approved fees, notice and administration costs, and other approved expenses. The cash left for claimants will be divided according to the settlement agreement. A person with two eligible devices may submit information for both, subject to the final rules.

Real people focused on the gap between the headline fund and the personal payment. One X user replied, “I have been defrauded for years. What is my reward? You get $95.” Another widely shared post drew hundreds of replies after saying eligible owners could receive up to $95. The reaction is fair context, but it does not change the formula the court approves.

Save the records before the form opens

Keep your device serial number, Apple Account details, and purchase record together. Payout can alert you when claimable settlements open, while the court-appointed administrator decides eligibility and payment.

When will the Apple claim form open?

The official claim website was not available as of August 16, 2026. Verita Global is expected to administer the case, verify purchaser data, send email and postal notices, and operate the claim site. Reports say class members will have 90 days after notice to submit claims.

Do not use an unofficial claim form

No legitimate form can approve this claim before the administrator opens the court-authorized site. A real class action claim is free. Do not pay a filing fee or give a bank password, Apple Account password, or Social Security number to an account posting a claim link on social media.

The uncertainty is visible in public discussion. An r/classactions thread focused on when notices would arrive and the 90-day filing period. An r/apple thread centered on the estimated $25 payment and the $95 maximum. Both discussions show why the administrator notice matters more than a reposted headline.

What should you do before the Apple claim site opens?

Save evidence that identifies the eligible phone, proves when and where you bought it, and connects the device with you. You can prepare now without sending sensitive information to an unofficial website.

1

Confirm the exact iPhone model

Open Settings, General, and About. Record the model name and serial number in a secure place.

2

Find the purchase date

Check Apple order history, carrier bills, retailer receipts, email confirmations, or financing records for a date between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.

3

Keep proof of purchase

Save a PDF or clear image of the receipt or invoice. Do not edit the record or upload it to a third-party form.

4

Watch for the administrator notice

Check the email and postal address connected with the purchase. Verify the settlement website before entering personal details.

5

File within the stated window

Use the official form once it opens. Save the confirmation number and a copy of everything submitted.

When could Apple settlement payments arrive?

The court scheduled the final approval hearing for February 24, 2027. Reports on the settlement say payments would start no sooner than 60 days after final approval, and only after the administrator finishes claim review and any appeal issues are resolved.

That makes spring 2027 the earliest reported possibility, not a promised payment date. An objection, appeal, claim-processing problem, or court order could push distribution later. Settlement administrators usually post dated status updates after the claim deadline and again when distribution begins.

The waiting period explains a recurring complaint on X: a $95 maximum feels small next to a long court schedule. Keep the claim confirmation after you file. It gives the administrator something specific to locate if your payment status later differs from other claimants.

How is this different from the Apple Siri privacy settlement?

Apple has two Siri-related settlements in 2026, and they cover different conduct, devices, dates, and claim stages. The $250 million Apple Intelligence case concerns advertising for delayed features. The $95 million Lopez case concerned alleged unintended Siri activations during private conversations.

A message about a 2026 Apple settlement should name the case and match its current stage. The official Lopez settlement site covers the closed privacy case. The new Apple Intelligence case will use a different claim website.

Can Payout file the Apple claim today?

No service can file a valid Apple Intelligence claim until the court-authorized form opens. Payout can help you discover open settlements and remember deadlines, but the administrator controls the form, reviews proof, approves claims, and sends payments.

Payout is a settlement-discovery app, not a law firm, and it does not give legal advice. Filing a class action claim is free through Payout or directly with the official administrator. Payout does not guarantee eligibility, approval, payment timing, or an amount.
