What is the Canteen Vending Class Action about?

Compass Group USA, Inc. (doing business as Canteen) will pay $6,940,000 to resolve claims that certain vending machines charged more than the displayed price when customers paid with a credit, debit or prepaid card without proper disclosure. Eligible U.S. purchasers can receive a cash payment based on how many purchases they made, with an expected range of $30–$360 (subject to pro-rata adjustment). No receipts are required with the claim, though additional information may later be requested. Eligibility, claim review, payment timing, and any payment amount are determined by the settlement administrator, court-approved terms, or applicable refund program. Payout does not administer the settlement, determine eligibility, or guarantee payment.

Who qualifies for the Canteen Vending Class Action?

You may qualify for the Canteen Vending Class Action if you meet the eligibility requirements below. Eligibility is finally determined by the settlement administrator, not by Payout.

  • Made one or more purchases from a 'Subject Vending Machine' operated by Compass Group USA d/b/a Canteen in the United States
  • Paid with a credit, debit, or prepaid card
  • Purchases occurred between 2014 and 2025-07-09
  • Submit a valid claim form by 2025-11-14
