What is the 700Credit data breach settlement about?

The lawsuit alleges that 700Credit failed to protect private information when someone gained unauthorized access to its 700Dealer.com web application. The incident may have exposed names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and other identifying information. 700Credit agreed to settle the claims without admitting wrongdoing.

The settlement covers living U.S. residents who received an email or postcard notice in July or August 2026 stating that the October 2025 incident may have affected their information. The administrator says approximately 5.8 million people are covered.

Class members may request an estimated $50 alternative cash payment without documenting a loss, or reimbursement of up to $2,500 for supported losses. Final cash amounts can change based on valid claims and the money available in the settlement fund.
