REI Price Adjustment Policy (2026)
REI offers price adjustments within 14 days of purchase when the same item drops in price at REI. REI does not match competitors' prices — only REI's own price drops qualify. REI Outlet purchases (prices ending in $0.73) are excluded.

What is a price adjustment?
A price adjustment means a retailer refunds you the difference when an item you already bought drops in price within a set window — no return needed. REI's policy covers its own price drops only: if you bought an item directly from REI and REI lowers the price within 14 days of your purchase, you can request the difference back in-store, via chat, or by phone.
Unlike Best Buy or Home Depot, REI does not match competitor prices from retailers like Bass Pro Shops, Backcountry, or Patagonia. The adjustment is strictly REI vs. REI — the same item, on REI.com or at an REI store, at a lower REI price. REI Outlet is treated as a separate channel: items purchased there (identifiable by prices ending in $0.73) are not eligible for price adjustments, and REI Outlet prices are not used as a basis for adjusting a regular REI purchase.

REI’s price-adjustment & price-match policy
| Adjustment window | 14 days from the original purchase date |
|---|---|
| Matches competitors? | No — REI only adjusts to its own lower prices, not prices at Backcountry, Bass Pro Shops, Patagonia, or any other retailer |
| REI Outlet exclusion | Items purchased at REI Outlet (prices ending in $0.73) are not eligible; REI Outlet prices also cannot be used as the basis for adjusting a regular REI purchase |
| Item must be identical | Same product, size, color, and model must be available at the lower price on REI.com or at an REI store at the time of your request |
| Coupon exclusions | Price adjustments may not apply if the coupon used at checkout explicitly excludes price adjustments — check your coupon terms |
| In-store requests | Visit any REI store with your original receipt; an associate can verify the lower current REI price and process the adjustment |
| Online/phone requests | Contact REI via live chat on REI.com or call 1-800-426-4840 (domestic) or 1-253-891-2500 (international) with your order number |
| Proof needed | Original receipt (in-store) or REI account order number (online); show the current lower REI price on a live REI.com listing |
| Refund method | Difference refunded to your original payment method |
How to request a price adjustment at REI
- 1Confirm your REI purchase is within 14 days and that the same item — identical size, color, and model — is currently priced lower on REI.com or at an REI store.
- 2Verify the item was purchased from REI (not REI Outlet) and that no exclusionary coupon was applied at checkout.
- 3For in-store purchases: bring your original receipt to any REI store and ask an associate to verify the current lower REI price. The associate will check the price on REI's system and apply the adjustment.
- 4For online or REI app purchases: log in to your REI account and contact REI via live chat on REI.com, or call 1-800-426-4840 with your order number. Share the current lower price on REI.com so the agent can verify it.
- 5Once confirmed, the price difference is refunded to your original payment method.
