What is the 23andMe Lawsuit about?
A court-authorized settlement for the October 2023 23andMe cyberattack (affecting ~6.4 million U.S. residents) offers: (1) up to $10,000 for documented Extraordinary Claims; (2) up to $165 for Health Information Claims if notified that health/genetic data was involved; (3) an estimated $100 Statutory Cash Claim for residents of AK, CA, IL, or OR during the incident period; and (4) 5 years of Privacy & Medical Shield + Genetic Monitoring. A Settlement Fund between $30–$50 million will pay benefits (amounts may be reduced proportionally if the fund is under $50 million). Eligibility, claim review, payment timing, and any payment amount are determined by the settlement administrator, court-approved terms, or applicable refund program. Payout does not administer the settlement, determine eligibility, or guarantee payment.
Who qualifies for the 23andMe Lawsuit?
You may qualify for the 23andMe Lawsuit if you meet the eligibility requirements below. Eligibility is finally determined by the settlement administrator, not by Payout.
- Were a 23andMe customer between 2023-05-01 and 2023-10-01
- Resided in the U.S. during that period
- Received notice from 23andMe that your personal information was compromised
- Submit a valid claim by 2026-02-17 (CT 11:59 pm for online claims; mail postmarked by 2026-02-17)
- For Statutory Cash Claim (~$100): resident of AK, CA, IL, or OR during the incident period and submit a claim
- For Health Information Claim (up to $165): received notice that health/genetic information was involved
- For Extraordinary Claim (up to $10,000): provide documentation of eligible unreimbursed losses tied to the incident
