Candelore v. Tinder Inc. – Age Discrimination Settlement
Potential cash payment for alleged age-based Tinder Plus and Gold pricing.
Description
Tinder has agreed to a $60.5 million class action settlement (Candelore v. Tinder Inc., BC583162) resolving claims that the dating app charged older users more than younger users for premium subscription services like Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold, in violation of the Unruh Civil Rights Act and California's Unfair Competition Law. Approximately 268,000 California users are covered. Class members who received a settlement notice will automatically receive a one-time cash payment. Those without a notice must submit a verification form with date of birth, age at first subscription purchase, state of purchase, estimated total paid, government-issued ID, and payment documentation. Payment options include PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, ACH direct deposit, or a mailed check. Final approval hearing is scheduled for May 20, 2026, with payments distributed approximately 90 days after final approval. Eligibility, claim review, payment timing, and any payment amount are determined by the settlement administrator, court-approved terms, or applicable refund program. Payout does not administer the settlement, determine eligibility, or guarantee payment.
