Oklahoma Earthquakes Class Settlements
Potential cash payment for Oklahoma earthquake property damage claims.
Description
A total of $555,000 in class settlements has been reached alleging certain wastewater disposal wells contributed to Oklahoma earthquakes, including the 5.1 magnitude event near Prague on February 2, 2024. Owners (or those with a property interest) in Oklahoma real property that suffered earthquake damage between 2019-01-19 and the Effective Date may submit a documented claim for repair costs. Payouts come from the Net Settlement Fund and are distributed pro rata based on approved, evidenced damages. Zone A (nine counties nearest the alleged seismicity) receives 90% of the Net Fund; Zone B (rest of Oklahoma) receives 10%. Key dates: exclusion deadline 2025-09-27; objection deadline 2025-10-10; final approval hearing 2025-10-20; claims deadline 2026-01-25. Total settlement fund is $555,000. Eligibility, claim review, payment timing, and any payment amount are determined by the settlement administrator, court-approved terms, or applicable refund program. Payout does not administer the settlement, determine eligibility, or guarantee payment.
Who qualifies
- Owned or had an interest in Oklahoma real property between 2019-01-19 and the Effective Date
- Property suffered earthquake damage in Oklahoma (including the Feb. 2, 2024 Prague event)
- Submit a claim with supporting documentation of repair estimates/bills by 2026-01-25
- If excluding, mail request postmarked by 2025-09-27; objections due 2025-10-10
