Walmart Settlement Payout: What to Do If Your Payment Failed

ByConnor Burd

The $45 million Walmart weighted-goods settlement has paid approved claims, commonly around $25 for people without receipts. New claims closed June 12, 2024. If your transfer failed, your check expired, or your redemption code disappeared, the official administrator still has a payment-reissue portal.

What happened with the Walmart settlement payout?

The case alleged that Walmart shoppers paid more than the lowest advertised price for certain sold-by-weight groceries and that some bagged citrus weights were mislabeled. Walmart denied wrongdoing and agreed to a $45 million settlement. The covered purchase period ran from October 19, 2018 through January 19, 2024.

The court granted final approval on June 28, 2024. After a later distribution order, the administrator began sending payments in September 2025. The official Walmart weighted-goods settlement site now says payments have been distributed to approved claimants, while parts of the payment process may continue into 2026.

That distinction matters. A person cannot submit a new claim now. Someone who filed before the deadline can still ask the administrator to investigate a payment problem.

How much did people actually receive?

The claim form allowed $10 to $25 without receipts. The amount depended on how many covered products a claimant reported buying. A documented claim could pay 2% of the cost shown on receipts, capped at $500.

The number people kept posting was $25.97. In one r/ClassActionSettlement thread, the opening post said, “Just received a whopping $25.97 from the Walmart Settlement.” More than 130 comments followed, with people comparing payment methods and amounts.

That Reddit report is one person's payment, not a promised amount. Approved claims varied. The administrator's calculation and the documents submitted with the original claim controlled the final number.

How do you recover a failed Walmart settlement payment?

Use the court-appointed administrator. Walmart store employees, Walmart customer support, your bank, and settlement-finder apps cannot reissue this payment.

1

Open the official claim portal

Type walmartweightedgroceriessettlement.com into your browser, then choose the Payment Reissue Request. Avoid sponsored ads and look-alike domains.

2

Enter the original claim details

The portal asks for your Claimant ID and Confirmation Code. Search the email account used on the 2024 claim for the case name, “Kukorinis v. Walmart,” and the settlement domain.

3

Contact the administrator if the codes are missing

Use the official contact form or call 1-833-987-9998. Give the name, mailing address, email, and phone number used on the claim.

4

Save the case number and reply

Keep a screenshot or copy of the request. If the administrator asks for more information, respond through the same official channel.

What if the bank account was closed?

A rejected ACH transfer normally returns to the sender. The administrator then decides whether and how to reissue it. Your bank can confirm that the account was closed, but it cannot redirect a settlement transfer after rejection.

One Walmart claimant on Reddit described keeping a checking account open for settlement payments, then learning it was inactive when the Walmart payout arrived. That complaint captures the practical problem. Months can pass between filing and payment, and old account details stop working.

Do not email new bank details to an address from an unsolicited message. Start at the official settlement site. The administrator's FAQ says it will not ask you to select a payment method after claims have closed.

What if the check expired or bounced?

Stop depositing the check and request a reissue. Checks can become void after the expiration date printed on them, even when the underlying settlement payment was legitimate.

A 2026 r/ClassActionSettlement post reported a $15.85 Walmart check that bounced. Replies focused on the expired check date. That does not prove why every returned check fails, but it gives the first thing to inspect.

A legitimate expired check does not make a request to “send back the extra money.” Any message asking for a fee, gift card, cryptocurrency, or part of the check proceeds is a scam.

How can you verify the Walmart payment email?

Match the message against facts you already know. A real notice should name the weighted-goods case, connect to the payment option selected on the original claim, and lead back to the official settlement domain.

  • Open the settlement website by typing the address yourself.
  • Compare the sender and link domain with the administrator's published contact information.
  • Never pay a fee to release a class action payment. Filing and receiving a settlement payment are free.
  • Never give a caller a one-time bank code, gift card number, or remote access to your phone.

A thread in r/Scams started when someone received a credit-union email about a roughly $26 Zelle payment. The suspicion was reasonable. Verify from the administrator site first, then check the payment app directly instead of using the email link.

Catch the next deadline before it closes

The Walmart claim is closed. Payout tracks active settlements and puts the claim details in one place. Filing is free.

Can Payout fix an old Walmart claim?

No. Payout can help you find open settlements and keep their deadlines visible. Only the court-appointed administrator can approve, calculate, or reissue the Walmart payment.

Payout is a settlement-discovery app, not a law firm, and it does not give legal advice. Filing is free, including when you file directly with an administrator. Eligibility, approval, and payment amounts are never guaranteed. Read the claim-status guide for a reusable tracking checklist, or check open settlements that do not require receipts.
