Is Settlemate Free?
No. Settlemate is free to download, but its features require a subscription: $15.99 per month, or $3.33 per month billed annually (about $40 per year), per its own pricing page. The settlements it surfaces are public, and filing a claim is free everywhere. Here is what the subscription covers, how to cancel it, and what the refund policy actually says.
Quick answer: Settlemate is not free. Published subscription prices over 12 months. Filing claims is free on every option.
Both Settlemate plans include the same four features: class action eligibility alerts, automatic email receipt scanning, price-drop refund tracking, and product recall notifications. The subscription is the whole product. There is no free tier that lets you browse or file settlement claims inside the app.
That bundling is the honest case for Settlemate: if you want receipt scanning and price-drop tracking anyway, the settlement alerts come along with them. If settlements are the only thing you want, you are paying up to $192 a year for alerts about public information. Our Is Settlemate legit? breakdown covers how paying subscribers rate that trade.
How to cancel Settlemate
Cancel wherever you subscribed. Canceling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you already paid for.
- iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, select Settlemate, tap Cancel Subscription.
- Android: open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, tap Payments and subscriptions, tap Subscriptions, select Settlemate, tap Cancel.
- Subscribed on settlemate.io: cancel from your account on the site, or email support@settlemate.io and keep the confirmation.
Check which platform is actually billing you before you cancel. A subscription started on the website does not show up under Apple or Google subscriptions, and canceling in the wrong place leaves the charge running.
The refund policy: 12 free months, not cash
Settlemate advertises a value guarantee if you do not earn more than your subscription in year one. The published policy spells out the remedy: another 12 months of Settlemate at no cost, extended again in 12-month periods if the gap persists. The policy states directly that it is not a money-back guarantee, cash refund, reimbursement, or statement credit.
Qualifying takes work. You must complete a full paid year, keep a connected account active for at least 10 of 12 months, engage with the opportunities the app identifies, stay in good standing, and email your request within 30 days of the qualifying period ending.
For subscriptions bought through Apple or Google, Settlemate states it does not process or control refunds at all. A cash refund request for those purchases goes to Apple or Google directly, under their standard policies.
The free way to do the same thing
Payout does the settlement half of Settlemate’s bundle at $0. It lists 115 settlements, matches you with ones you may qualify for, and files claims in-app in about 5 minutes. 500,000+ downloads, more than 1,526,973 claims filed, a 4.7-star App Store rating across 10,705 ratings, no subscription required to browse or file, and no cut of your settlement money. Payout is a discovery app, not a law firm, and it does not guarantee eligibility, approval, or amounts. Filing is free everywhere, including directly with each settlement administrator.
